ICYMI: CRC Recreation Area permanently closed 🥺2020 "Donated land to be turned into Kentwood park"

Growing up, in the 70s and '80s, we knew this as the Christian Reformed Recreation Area  I guess in later years they called it the Christian Athletic Complex.

This is where I learned to golf, in addition to Indian trails, and also where we played softball with our church every year and also our annual church picnic ( and finding crayfish in the creek)- sort of sad.

I remember when it started out it was just a nine-hole golf course and I think they turn it into 18 holes if I recall correctly and they even provided electric carts for a small fee.  it's a great place. Too bad they couldn't keep it going but looks like it'll be a nice gift to the city of Kentwood -hopefully they can keep it going - and what about Church softball? is that no longer a thing anymore either ?
