...i took this picture this summer didn't really notice the statue until I looked closer at the picture and now I looked up who it is... turns out he was from Grand Rapids.. died in 1967 in in the Apollo 1 accident.
"Astronaut Roger Chaffee Statue, Grand Rapids, Michigan...Chaffee would have been the world's youngest astronaut, and almost certainly would have been part of a later flight to the moon. He was from Grand Rapids and, although it took over 50 years, the city unveiled a bronze statue of him, by sculptor Brett Grill, on May 19, 2018.
